The Farm
Los Pirineos is one of El Salvador's most internationally renowned specialty coffee farms, with over 150 years of coffee-growing history. It is located in the Tecapa-Chinameca mountain range, in Berlín, Usulután, and is currently managed by Diego Baraona, a fifth-generation coffee farmer who took over in 2020 after his father, Gilberto, passed away that same year.
The farm boasts over 70 different coffee varieties, 29 of which are in full production. It employs washed, honey, and natural processing methods, as well as anaerobic fermentation and carbonic maceration, with its own wet and dry mills on the farm.
Awards
More than 22 Cup of Excellence awards in the last twelve years, with a fifth-place finish in 2021 and 2022, and third in 2024. This farm needs no introduction to anyone who follows El Salvador.
