Story

Malacara C is one of three historic lots created when the old Finca Malacara, on the slopes of the Santa Ana Volcano, was divided. The property belonged to the Álvarez family's coffee holdings and in 1920 became the operational centre for all their farms in the area. It was later inherited by three of Don Rafael's grandchildren — Samuel, Emma and Arturo Álvarez Meza — which is why it exists today as lots A, B and C.

Lot C is historically linked to Francisco Arturo Álvarez Meza. In 2003 it placed third nationally in Cup of Excellence El Salvador with 90.32 points, a result that established the farm's reputation.

The name has a curious origin. The farm was once called Medellín, after Don Rafael Álvarez's birthplace, but locals kept calling it Malacara after a well-known local figure, and the nickname prevailed.

Around 42 hectares at about 1,400 masl, on clay-loam soils. Harvest runs from January to March and flowering from April to May. The farm is planted mainly with Bourbon and Pacamara, along with Catimor and Cuzcatleco. Curador sources four distinct lots here: washed Bourbon, washed Orange Bourbon, natural Orange Bourbon and Pacamara.
