The Farm

Falsir Durán planted his first 2,000 Villa Nueva coffee trees after a meeting at a coffee company in San Cristóbal convinced him there was a future in it. Eleven years later, he cultivates 104 hectares in Mérida, 99 of them dedicated to coffee, under partial shade and with a mixed approach of organic and conventional practices. The variety's name includes the year he began.

Since then, he has invested in hullers, washers, drying patios, and administrative tracking, an infrastructure he also makes available to neighboring producers. He has donated around four million seeds to other coffee growers in the region.

The Location

Los Naranjos is in the Mocotíes Valley, an elongated valley shaped by the river of the same name and part of the Lake Maracaibo basin. The lake on one side and the river on the other create a microclimate that has produced high-altitude coffee here since colonial times. Deep and fertile soils, a balance of sand, lime, and clay, and high organic matter content.

It is our largest lot and the backbone of the Venezuelan offering. Same farm, same producer, and available again next harvest, which is exactly what almost no one can promise from this origin.
